The Colosseo

Wanted by the emperor Vespasianus and completed by his son Titus in 80 A.D.the Flavio amphitheater, better known as Colosseo, was intended to combats and games between gladiators and hunting simulations to wild and exotic animals.

Navona Square

Symbol of Baroque Rome, it was to celebrate the greatness of the Pamphili family and Innocenzo X wanted the homonymous palace to be erected there and the square to be adorned with valuable works.
The most famous work in the center of the square is the Fountain of the Four Rivers. Made by Bernini between 1648 and 1651, it is one of the greatest expressions of the Roman Baroque and of the artist’s ingenuity.

The districts of Rome are the profound link between the Romans to their popular history, and dialect to the city habits. Their name is derived historically from 14 regiones in which the emperor Augustus divided the city.
